Peppol adoption in Belgium and the Netherlands

Belgium made structured B2B e-invoicing mandatory on 1 January 2026. This page counts how many companies are actually reachable on the Peppol network, from the directory's own daily export. It is updated weekly and the method is written out below, so the numbers can be checked rather than taken on trust.

How these numbers are counted

The figure above counts distinct enterprise numbers, not directory entries. A Belgian company usually appears twice, once under Peppol scheme 0208 (its KBO number) and once under scheme 9925 (its VAT number). Counting entries instead of companies overstates Belgian adoption by roughly three quarters, which is the single easiest mistake to make with this dataset.

Being listed in the directory means a company can receive an e-invoice. It does not prove the company sends them, and the reverse also holds: a company can be reachable through an access point without publishing a directory entry. Treat these counts as a floor for reachability, not a measure of usage.
